As the Information Security Program Owner at National Instruments, a $1.4B global enterprise, I've spent the past decade building a risk management program from the ground up. As I shared in my Founder's Story, I struggled in the early days with defining what our program would look like, and especially around the tooling I would use, but it wasn't long before I was able to demonstrate the value of risk management to the organization. SimpleRisk quickly became our de facto tool of choice and, as my knowledge increased and my comfort level expanded, I continued to improve SimpleRisk to encompass new features like framework and control management (Governance), audit testing (Compliance), risk assessment, and much more.
One of the most rewarding things about starting SimpleRisk six years ago is that I have the opportunity to share that experience with all of the customers and prospects out there who are now in the same boat that I was. Our live demos frequently include advice on things like where to get started, how to convince the organization that risk management is a value-add, risk management as a resource prioritization exercise, and how to drive visibility and accountability up the chain of management. Our SimpleRisk customers have always meant more to me than a simple exchange of money for services and we have a vested interest in seeing them be successful. It is with that sentiment in mind that I'm excited to announce that going forward SimpleRisk will be offering complimentary risk management program consulting to customers as part of our hosted plans and on-premise packages.
Beginning in Q4 2019, any customer who has purchased one of our SimpleRisk On-Prem Basic, Plus, or Premium packages or our Hosted Small, Medium, or Large Enterprise subscription plans will have the opportunity to schedule a 30-minute quarterly strategy session with me. These aren't intended to be product demos or new feature presentations. The goal of these interactive sessions is for our customers to be able to ask questions and leverage my experience to establish successful ERM programs of their own.
While these sessions are totally customer-driven, some potential topics to cover include:
- How to roll out a risk management program and create a sustainable long-term strategy
- How to establish security awareness and gain buy-in from all stakeholders
- How to leverage SimpleRisk as a fully integrated Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) platform

- How to make risk management simple, effective, and actionable for all stakeholders
