Team-Based Separation Extra
Team-Based Separation Extra
The Team-Based Separation Extra restricts risk viewing to only the users who are members of the team to which a risk is assigned.
What are SimpleRisk Extras?
SimpleRisk Core is our widely acclaimed, award winning, free and open source product that has been downloaded over 60,000 times and contains all of the basic Governance, Risk Management and Compliance (GRC) functionality needed to establish a foundational GRC program. As an organization’s GRC program matures, extended functionality is often required to meet requirements beyond what is available in the SimpleRisk Core offering.
To address these expanded needs, SimpleRisk has developed a variety of plug-and-play modules termed "Extras" that provide functionality above and beyond our SimpleRisk Core offering. These plug-and-play modules will be essential to the success of your GRC program as your organization grows and matures its processes. While all of our Extras are available in packaged bundles with both SimpleRisk On-Premise and Hosted deployment models, they can also be purchased A La Carte for those organizations that choose to deploy our platform on-premise.
Why was the Team-Based Separation Extra created?
Team-Based Separation was created to build “walls“ between the different teams so that a risk will only be viewable, and hence actionable, to the teams that are assigned to it. In the SimpleRisk Core product, without this Extra, every user can see every risk and the Team-Based Separation functionality enforces separation of teams where applicable.
How is the Team-Based Separation Extra used?
The Team-Based Separation Extra allows a risk to be assigned to a specific team or teams to encourage collaboration and enable team members to focus on risks related to their area of responsibility. Simultaneously, Team-Based Separation limits access to those who do not have the need to know the information contained in the risk. For example, you may want to separate your Unix Team from the Physical Security Team since they have different areas of risk responsibility. Or, you might provide the Executive Leadership Team with a wide view of all of the risks in their organization by adding them to each of the different teams, while limiting the scope of access for area managers. You can also define user permissions within teams by leveraging our highly granular Role-Based Access Control functionality.

What users would benefit from the Team-Based Separation Extra?
Team-Based Separation delivers a wide variety of benefits to technical users, business users and management. This Extra provides the ability to:
- Enable teams to focus on their area of responsibility to promote collaboration and alignment;
- Measure how teams are doing against risk mitigation goals to prioritize mitigation efforts;
- Leverage team-based reporting to obtain a more granular view of organization-wide risk;
- Gain an organization-wide view of risk by rolling up the combined risk metrics from all teams;
- Compare organizational risk metrics to team metrics to determine which teams are falling short.
Which plans include the Team-Based Separation Extra?
The Team-Based Separation Extra is included with all of our On-Premise Packages and our Hosted Medium and Large Enterprise Plans. For those customers that choose a SimpleRisk On-Premise deployment model, we also offer an A La Carte option for the Team-Based Separation Extra, if you are interested in customizing which Extras you would like to purchase.
