Custom Authentication Extra
The Custom Authentication Extra provides support for Active Directory and SAML Authentication as well as Duo Security as a second factor of authentication. In the SimpleRisk Core product, without this Extra, the only option is to create new users in the SimpleRisk identity repository.
What are SimpleRisk Extras?
SimpleRisk Core is our widely acclaimed, award winning, free and open source product that has been downloaded over 60,000 times and contains all of the basic Governance, Risk Management and Compliance (GRC) functionality needed to establish a foundational GRC program. As an organization's GRC program matures, extended functionality is often required to meet requirements beyond what is available in the SimpleRisk Core offering.
To address these expanded needs, SimpleRisk has developed a variety of plug-and-play modules termed "Extras" that provide functionality above and beyond our SimpleRisk Core offering. These plug-and-play modules will be essential to the success of your GRC program as your organization grows and matures its processes.While all of our Extras are available in packaged bundles with both SimpleRisk On-Premise and Hosted deployment models, they can also be purchased A La Carte for those organizations that choose to deploy our platform on-premise.
Why was the Custom Authentication Extra created?
Many SimpleRisk customers have a requirement to automatically link SimpleRisk to their internal directory service in order to automate user management, and the Custom Authentication Extra provides this integration. Automating user management with the Custom Authentication Extra is a significant time saver for organizations with this requirement. Without Custom Authentication, SimpleRisk administrators would need to manually add, edit or remove users from the system, which is both tedious and time consuming.
How is the Custom Authentication Extra used?
This Extra supports Active Directory and SAML Authentication. Users authenticated with your directory or Identity Provider will be automatically created in the SimpleRisk system and assigned the appropriate teams and roles. When a user leaves your organization or is otherwise no longer authenticated, they will no longer be able to access the SimpleRisk system. Lastly, your organizations access control policies will be enforced in the SimpleRisk environment.
